Come fiume incessante at Festival 20/21
‘Bowmore’ – some know the word as a brand of excellent single-malt whisky, others as a piece of music (inspired by the whisky) by Flemish composer Luc Brewaeys.
Recently, Bowmore has also become the name of an adventurous new Belgian string quartet. Pieter Jansen, Veronique De Raedemaeker, Tony Nys and Francis Mourey, all talented, devoted and passionate musicians, have formed a group whose purpose is to explore the incredibly rich string-quartet repertoire written after 1950.
At Festival 20·21, they’ll play the all-Belgian programme with which they made their debut. And a Bowmore concert wouldn’t be a Bowmore concert without Luc Brewaeys’ Bowmore or Annelies Van Parys’s tribute on the death of her mentor, written ten years ago. The quartet will also play the little-known but singularly beautiful Summer Dreams by musical wizard Philippe Boesmans.
