Etude – pour les flattements by Tomma Wessel at Transit Festival

FAST NUR LUFT

What can you do with a recorder (or a whole collection of them in different sizes) that isn’t ‘just blowing out some air’? Tomma Wessel will show you just what, in all kinds of works written especially for her. She works with each composer to explore the recorder’s many different properties, sometimes using electronics.

Recorder player Tomma Wessel focuses on performing early and contemporary music. She has been a guest at major venues and festivals. Her intensive collaborations with composers led to the creation of dozens of new compositions, including by Luc Brewaeys, Annelies Van Parys, Alvin Curran and Frederic Rzewski. Wessel is co-founder of the ensemble Apsara and she has performed with ensembles such as Ictus, ChampdAction and SPECTRA.
